IRGC commander warns Zionist regime against targeting Iran

Tehran, Aug 11, IRNA -- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards 
Corps Brigadier General Yahya Rahim Safavi said here Wednesday that if
the Zionist regime targets Iranian nation, "we will broke them into 
pieces." 
Addressing commanders of IRGC ground forces, he said the Middle 
East region has now turned into a center for plots, atrocities and 
carnage against the Muslims by the US and the Zionist regime who, in 
the guise of the campaign against weapons of mass destructions, 
terrorism and creation of democracy in the Middle East, are to out to 
materialize their sinister plots. 
They (American and Zionists) are after dominating energy sources 
in the sensitive region of the Persian Gulf and changing their puppet 
governments and the occupation of Iraq is considered as a 
pre-requisite strategy to help achieve their sinister global and 
regional goals, he said. 
The US attacked Iraq to dominate energy sources in the Persian 
Gulf region, Central Asia and Caucasus, help restore security for 
the Zionist regime, change political systems in the region and create 
a greater Middle East, he said. 
Highlighting the pivotal role of IRGC ground forces as the 
backbone of the IRGC during the eight years of sacred defense (Iraqi 
imposed war 1980-1988) in various fields, he said, "I hope the 
commanders of the force strengthen their faith, courage and wisdom to 
protect Iranian nation and Revolution in hardship and crisis." 
IRGC should maintain its readiness in a bid to confront foreign 
threats, domestic and cultural inroads as well as assist those 
engulfed by natural disasters, he concluded.
