IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Aug 11, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami here Wednesday said that the US should take the initiative in giving momentum to dialogue with Iran. Speaking to Iranian and foreign reporters after the cabinet meeting, the president disapproved of the US tough stance towards Iran. "Once the US current policy is revised, it stops imposing its views on others and proves its good understanding in practice, there is no reason for Iran to refrain from entering into discussions. "We have nothing against any world country and power. We can adopt a different policy if we are convinced that such a measure will secure our national interests," he added. The chief executive said that in order to pave the way for talks, the US should prove that it does not intend to act against Iran`s national interests. In response to a question about his view about the `Greater Middle East` initiative, he said that he will express his outlook on the issue in a press conference in the upcoming Government Week (August 23-29). 2326/2322/1432
