Iran to manufacture centrifuges parts under IAEA supervision: Asefi

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 27, IRNA -- Iran will manufacture and assemble
centrifuges` parts under the supervision of the International Atomic
Energy Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said here
Sunday.
Addressing reporters at his weekly press conference, Asefi
stressed Iran`s commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and
its additional protocol as well as the safeguard.
"If there were any ill intention, we would not send a transparent
letter," he said.
Iran`s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Hassan
Rowhani wrote a letter to Europe`s big three -- Germany, Britain and
France -- on the country`s dossier in the Board of Governors of the
International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN`s nuclear watchdog.
Asefi stressed continuation of Iran`s cooperation with the IAEA
and European states and said, "IAEA inspectors will do their job as
before and will face no problems in the future as they were provided
with all facilities."
"The issue of cooperation should be bilateral. We prefer the
language of understanding and friendship to that of intimidation and
threat.
"Despite the fact that the Brussels agreement was violated by the
Europe, we will continue our negotiations with them," the spokesman
said.
He assessed the Europe`s measure regarding Iran`s nuclear
dossier as deplorable and stressed, "Tehran finds no reason to remain
committed to the Brussels statement."
"In the Brussels meeting, Iran decided to stop manufacturing and
assembling centrifuges voluntarily and the European side was to close
Iran`s case in the June meeting," Asefi said, adding "The European
did not keep their commitment."
"So, we are neither morally nor reasonably committed to insist on
confidence-building," Asefi added.
He expressed his surprise at the violation of the three European
states of their commitment.
The spokesman pointed to the US efforts to raise problems and
cause discord between Iran and the IAEA and said, "The United States
cannot prove its claims as it was the case with the weapons of
mass destruction in Iraq.
"Accusation posed against Iran is a similar case."
"The United States allows itself to accuse every country because
the world demands no proof and evidence," he further stated.
Asefi said Iran told the agency and the EU`s big three that the
country will resume manufacturing centrifuges components on June 29.
