Rowhani: Iran`s nuclear activities, peaceful, legal

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 2, IRNA -- Secretary of Supreme National Security
Council Hassan Rowhani said here on Wednesday that fair investigation
into Iran`s nuclear case would prove that such activities are legal
and for peaceful purposes.
Rowhani told a group of Iranian and foreign reporters that the
head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohammed
ElBaradei`s recent report shows Iran`s nuclear case is nearing its
closure and no other point of significance, except certain technical
and minor issues remain.
Rowhani said majority of the issues of importance to
the IAEA have been totally or partially resolved.
He said the IAEA has announced that with careful and expert study
on the two remaining key and important issues, it would be able to be
confident of Iran`s nuclear program.
He went on to say that the IAEA report has made good progress
with regards to the contaminated parts but the issue needs further
investigation.
As far as P2 is concerned, the IAEA report admits that Iran has
had very suitable cooperation and addressed all relevant questions,
said Rowhani, adding that the report, however adds that since outcome
of samples taken in the P2 workshop are not yet available and certain
information have yet to be be made available to the Agency the issue
needs further investigation.
Rowhani said the Tuesday night report of the IAEA shows that
Iran`s nuclear case is almost closed and there is no other
important issue.
He said the report has thanked Iran for being fully cooperative
with the Agency.
Rowhani said the report shows Iran`s activities have been
peaceful and the country has not diverted from the right path.
Rowhani quoted ElBaradei as saying in Slovakia on Tuesday night
that the IAEA has not yet found any evidence and proof to
substantiate that Iran`s nuclear activities have been illegal or
non-peaceful.
He said Iran has announced from the beginning that the more
inspections are carried out, the more confident the world will become
that Iran`s activities are legal and peaceful.
