Iran's embassy refutes Interfax report on Iran`s nuclear programs
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, May 25, IRNA -- Iran`s embassy in Vienna on Monday refuted a report by Interfax news agency on Iran`s nuclear programs. The Interfax news agency in a report claimed that chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov called for elimination of nuclear materials in Iran under the supervision of the agency. "ElBaradei`s remarks, quoted by Interfax, were not about Iran`s nuclear programs at all. The remarks pointed to nuclear programs in Iraq," an official in the embassy said. Interfax also said that the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, pointed to a meeting between ElBaradei and Fedotov in Vienna and said the sides agreed that transfer of nuclear materials from Iran and annihilation of facilities producing them should be implemented under advanced international supervision and the IAEA and based on resolutions by the UN Security Council. The Iranian official quoted ElBaradei as saying he had no talks with Fedotov on Iran`s nuclear programs and they just discussed annihilation of nuclear materials in Iraq. SF/210
