Iran`s Navy submarine manoeuvre starts

Tehran, May 13, IRNA -- The first phase of submarine manoeuvre titled "Unity 83 " started on Wednesday by Islamic Republic of Iran Navy in the third marine zone of the armed forces in Chahbahar port. Rear Admiral Hossein Fazli, spokesman of this manoeuvre and operational deputy of Iran Navy said," In this phase, submarines and warships get ready in docks of the first and third navy zones and after passing the demined waterways move toward operational zone." Rear Admiral Fazli declared the operation zones as parts of the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and northern part of Indian Ocean to the end of 22 degree latitude. He added in this operation 76 units would participate which include: below surface units, surface units, flying units, diving groups and marines. Spokesman of the manoeuvre said fighter and bomber planes of Iran Air Force would cooperate with Navy. Objectives of this manoeuvre are promoting the defense capability, increasing operational forces` readiness, strategic power demonstration, and facilitating the navy`s new advanced terminals that are fully planned and constructed by Iranian Navy personnel. 1391/214
