Rowhani describes IAEA resolution as unfair

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, March 13, IRNA -- The resolution adopted by the UN nuclear
watchdog on Iran`s nuclear activities is unfair, declared Secretary
General of Iran`s Supreme National Security Council Hassan Rowhani
here on Saturday.
Rowhani said at a press conference that the resolution falls short
of recognizing Iran`s extensive cooperation with the IAEA over the
past months and what it reflects are beyond realities.
The Iranian security chief said that although the resolution does
not bring any new commitment for Iran, its tone is not a proper one.
He termed the IAEA resolution draft as the one presenting image of
an `ugly devil with dangerous horns and sharp teeth`, whose horns are
now removed, and its teeth are broken but its ugly visage still
remains.
Rowhani said that all the statements, except that of Canada,
raised at the IAEA Board meeting on Saturday had been in Iran`s favor,
indicating that Americans have not been able to dictate their stances
on them and that the course the Islamic Republic of Iran has chosen is
correct.
The IAEA resolution is devoid of any content and some of the
paragraphs are illusions, said Rowhani, adding that for instance,
Americans had initially claimed there were other sites, besides
Natanz in Iran, where enrichment projects were underway.
He said that due to the same reason, they had called on Iran to
suspend its uranium enrichment program. "Since we do not have any
other site except Natanz (for the uranium enrichment program), the
part (of the resolution concerning the issue) lacks any credibility,"
added the Iranian official.
Certain sections of the resolution have exaggerated realities, for
instance the P-2 part, which is far from realities, he added.
The IAEA Board adopted a resolution under the US and Zionist lobby
on Saturday, condemning Iran for alleged atomic energy activities. The
resolution, adopted without voting and despite strong differences
among the members, suffers certain flaws and falls short of taking
Iran`s case to the UN Security Council.
Since October 21st, when Tehran became a signatory to a crucial
declaration with the European Union`s trios -- Britain, Germany and
France -- Iran has had extensive cooperation with the IAEA.
Tehran voluntarily suspended its uranium enrichment program and
signed up to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) one month
after the November meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, when the US
failed to push the dossier to the UNSC through the members.
The US has been accusing Iran of developing nuclear arms -- a
claim Tehran has strongly denied.
