IAEA Board of Governors postpones discussion on issues surrounding Iran`s nuclear programs

Vienna, March 9, IRNA -- The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) postponed discussions on issues pertaining to Iran`s nuclear programs on Tuesday upon a request by the head of the Group of 77 (developing countries). The board is to continue its review on Wednesday. An informed source at the IAEA, talking to IRNA here Tuesday on condition of anonymity, said talks between IEAE officials on issues surrounding Iran`s nuclear programs are still going on. "No working document, a draft resolution or a statement, on Iran has been agreed upon so far," the source said. European and American representatives are currently discussing the text of a proposed resolution on Iran, it noted, adding that the primary text proposed by the United States on Iran was rejected by most European states. The IAEA governing board is to discuss issues on nuclear security and technical help in its meeting today. The meeting of 35 member states of the IAEA Governing Board opened at UN Headquarters in Vienna on Monday. Technical and security issues on nuclear activities and the report by IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei on Iranian and Libyan nuclear activities were among the important issues that were discussed during the meeting.
