Iran, North Korea discuss expansion of bilateral relations

Tehran, Feb 9, IRNA -- New Ambassador of Democratic People`s Republic of Korea (North Korea) to Iran Kim Chong Ryong here Monday conferred with Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi on issues of mutual interest. Kharrazi, in the meeting, expressed his satisfaction with cordial relations between Tehran and Pyongyang, adding "common interests between Iran and North Korea has brought the two countries closes to each other." He welcomed expansion of relations between North Korea and its neighboring countries and termed such relations as an important factor for resolving of problems in the the Korean peninsula. Pointing to the existing potentials for mutual cooperation between Iran and North Korea, Kharrazi stressed the necessity of removing obstacles to promotion of cooperation between the two countries. The new North Korean ambassador, for his part, hailed mutual cooperation, expressing hope that he could play his positive role in promoting mutual ties during his mission to Iran. MS/212 End
