IAEA chief: Today is a good day for peace
IRNA
Vienna, Nov 26, IRNA -- Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei said here on Wednesday that today was a good day for peace. Addressing a press conference ElBaradei said the day was a good day for peace because the IAEA board had followed the method of inspection, confirmation and diplomacy to receive answers to its questions on Iran. ElBaradei said Iran`s cooperation with the IAEA had been beyond expectations. He said Iran had before signing additional protocol of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) acted in a way as if is was a signatory to it and the IAEA was provided with necessary information and sites in process of inspection. He added that signing the NPT additional protocol, Iran`s transparent cooperation with the Agency and suspension of uranium enrichment program are all positive points for Iran. ElBaradei said his next report to the IAEA will come in February and the board will convene in March. The last IAEA board meeting was held on November 20, 2003. 216/214 End
