Asefi: IAEA resolution proves peaceful nature of Iran`s activities

IRNA

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi
said here on Wednesday that the IAEA Board of Governors` resolution
provided further proof for peaceful nature of Iran`s nuclear
activities.
Asefi added, "The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
resolution on Iran also proved that Iran pursues its nuclear project
quite transparently, and is frank in reporting its process to the UN
nuclear watchdog."
He said that such mutual trust between the Islamic Republic of
Iran and the IAEA has been built despite all the hue and cry raised by
the oppressor circles on Iran`s intentions to produce nuclear weapons.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman said, "The past few days`
developments can be summarized as the defeat of the unilateral efforts
made on the basis of safeguarding Israel`s interests, as well as the
success of multilateral cooperation in political field, based on
meaningful dialogue, and shared wisdom."
Asefi concluded, "We expect the IAEA to establish a constructive
cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran frankly, so that Iran,
too, would be able to pursue its commitments on the basis of the
Tehran Communique perseveringly."
The IAEA Board resolution on Iran`s nuclear program received
overwhelming votes in its favor at the board`s Wednesday meeting.
The board reconvened wednesday to study Iran`s nuclear dossier.
The session was a follow up to the board`s earlier meetings on
Thursday and Friday, that had failed to garner a consensus due to
acute differences among the members on Iran`s nuclear program,
postponing further scrutiny to a next session this Wednesday.
Representatives of the 35-nation board members had in the interval
consulted with their respective country on the IAEA Director General
Mohammad ElBaradei`s report on Iran`s nuclear activities.
The draft resolution on Iran, sponsored by three big European
states, namely Britain, France and Germany, had been finalized on
Monday for investigation at the board`s Wednesday session.
