Official stresses Iran`s right to peaceful use of nuclear energy
IRNA
Tehran, Nov 24, IRNA -- Iran has the right to use nuclear energy peacefully which should not be limited at all, Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohsen Mirdamadi said here Monday. In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Lio G Tan, Mirdamadi hoped the ongoing meeting of IAEA`s Board of Governors would produce "good and acceptable" results. Pointing to very close views of Iran and China on various regional and international issues including the Iraq crisis, Mirdamadi said, "The trend of developments in Iraq over recent months proved that designation of a US governor in that country was a completely false decision." He stressed that increasing trend of insecurity and terror in Iraq indicates continuation of occupation in that country would intensify crisis in the region and the administration of Iraq`s affairs should be handed to its nation. Mirdamadi termed political and parliamentary relations between Iran and China as very good and said close stance of the two countries on various regional and international issues would prepare suitable grounds for consolidation of mutual relations. He pointed to a 30 percent growth in the volume of trade exchanges between the two sides this year and stressed utilization of great potentials of both countries for investment. Lio, for his part, voiced satisfaction over politico-economic and parliamentary relations between the two countries and expressed Beijing`s readiness to expand ties with Tehran in all fields. "China supports Tehran`s stance towards peaceful use of nuclear energy," said the ambassador, adding Iran`s realistic policies promoted the world`s confidence in Iran. He also called for expansion of trade and commercial exchanges between Iran and China. SF/212
