Intensive talks underway among IAEA board members
IRNA
Vienna, Nov 19, IRNA -- An Iranian diplomat said here on Wednesday that intensive talks are now underway among members of the International Atomic Energy Agency`s (IAEA) Board of Governors. The diplomat, who is a member of Iran`s delegation to the IAEA board meeting, told IRNA, "To our understanding there has been no instance yet to show any reverse course in Europeans` Tehran pledges." He said that there are very strong political pressures and Iran is doing its utmost to ensure the board meeting attains a desirable outcome. As for predictions on possible failure of the Board to arrive at an outcome in its Thursday meeting, the Iranian diplomat said certain sources maintain that the Board might postpone reaching a conclusion to future meetings but the point has not seriously been raised. He said certain states have not yet unveiled their stances but most probably their stances will be clear by Thursday afternoon. The fifth and last meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors for 2003 will start on November 20 and the talks might continue until November 21. The IAEA Chief Mohammad ElBaradei`s report on Iran`s nuclear activities will figure prominently in the Board discussions. 216/215/AH End
