Rowhani: Talks with EU officials "positive"

IRNA

Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran`s Supreme National Security
Council Hassan Rowhani here Tuesday assessed his talks with senior EU
officials in Brussels as "positive".
Talking to reporters at Mehrabad International Airport after
returning from Brussels, Rowhani said the visit took place at a
very sensitive time on the threshold of the IAEA Board of Governors`
meeting and under conditions that Iran`s enemies had intensified
their activities against the Islamic Republic.
"The European Union officials described the new atmosphere
created for Iran today as a turning point and an important historic
event in Iran-EU ties," he said.
Rowhani also termed the talks with senior EU officials and the
foreign ministers of the three European countries with whom agreement
had been achieved in Tehran (Germany, France and Britain) as
constructive, effective and clear.
He stressed that Iran has not made any requests from anyone in
any talk and in any statement.
"We have been seeking the legitimate rights of the Iranian
nation and have held talks with our partners within the framework
of regulations and treaties and have reached agreement, and they are
also committed to fulfill their promises," he said.
The SNSC secretary noted that they have clearly expressed their
commitment to their undertakings in Tehran.
He stressed that one of the three EU ministers admitted the
Iranian nation has been insulted over the past 100 years and that
certain powers sought to humiliate the country but Iran currently
enjoyed a special position.
He quoted another minister as terming the Middle East as a very
important region and saying that they regard Iran as the main axis
in the region and for this reason they seek to expand their ties
with Tehran in all fields.
"We have explicitly announced that Iran will not accept any
sentence in the upcoming resolution which set the issue of
suspension (of Uranium enrichment activities) -- that Iran started
voluntarily -- as a legal commitment," Rowhani further stated.
