Iran completely committed to Tehran Declaration: SNSC Secretary

IRNA

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran`s Supreme National Security
Council Hassan Rowhani in Brussels on Monday stressed Iran`s full
commitment to Tehran Declaration.
Rowhani made the remark in separate meetings with French Foreign
Minister Dominique de Villepin, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw
and German deputy minister of foreign affairs.
During the meetings he stressed Iran`s firm determination to fight
weapons of mass destruction at regional and international levels and
the country`s serious decision for mutual confidence-building and
expansion of relations between Iran and Europe.
Rowhani said that Iran does not seek a sectional and tactical move
and is determined to continue its confidence-building policies in
order to promote security and bilateral, regional and international
cooperation.
He said Iran`s nuclear policies are voluntarily to prove the
country`s peaceful nature of nuclear activities, adding the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has finally approved that
Iran does not seek access to nuclear weapons.
He noted that new dialogue between Iran and Europe is a start for
peaceful nuclear cooperation and assessed Iran-Europe cooperation to
free the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction as "constructive
and positive".
Straw, for his part, said the aim of Germany, Britain and France
from Tehran Declaration is a comprehensive plan towards
confidence-building and is far beyond the issue of proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction.
Straw said that these three European countries seek the best and
deepest ties with Iran and attach special importance to the dignity
and independence of Iran, adding that they will not forget Iran`s
difficulties over the past 100 years.
Straw appreciated Iran`s recent transparent measures on behalf of
France, Britain and Germany and said Iran`s measure to suspend uranium
enrichment activities is voluntarily which would be very effective to
attract global confidence.
He termed current dialogue between Iran and Europe as an important
historic opportunity for both sides and stressed continuation of such
ties.
Meanwhile, de Villepin also pointed to key dialogue and
cooperation between Iran and Europe and said it is important for both
sides to show the world confidence can be built through dialogue and
cooperation and there is no need to resort to other ways.
The world community and Europe seek continuation of
confidence-building and cooperation with Iran, he added. In the
process of confidence-building, the French foreign minister said that
they intend to establish comprehensive Iran-Europe cooperation
including a commercial agreement through settlement of current
problems in mutual ties and non-proliferation of weapons of mass
destruction.
German deputy foreign minister, who attended the meeting in the
absence of Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, termed recent opportunity
in Iran-Europe ties as historical and called for consolidation of
bilateral cooperation.
