Kharrazi, Patten discuss Iran-IAEA cooperation
IRNA
Tehran, Nov 12 IRNA -- Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi in a telephone conversation with European Commission`s Foreign Relations chief Chris Patten on Wednesday explained the steps Iran has taken to develop cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Kharrazi said that Iran announced its decision to sign the additional protocol to non-proliferation treaty (NPT) and voluntarily suspended uranium enrichment to help prepare the ground for boosting Iran-IAEA cooperation. He said that IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei`s report on Iran`s nuclear program indicated Iran`s transparent cooperation with the agency. "The European Union is expected to adopt an accurate policy and take positively practical steps to help foster Iran-IAEA cooperation," Kharrazi said. Patten appreciated Iran`s wise initiatives and said that Iran managed to attract the confidence of the international community toward national nuclear program. "A new atmosphere has been created in Iran-EU relations. I hope bilateral cooperation will develop in all fields," Patten said. 215/AH/210 End
