IAEO head: Agenda of IAEA Board of Governors`s unpredictable

IRNA

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA -- Head of Iran`s Atomic Energy Organization
(IAEO) Gholamreza Aghazadeh here on Wednesday reiterated that the
topics on the agenda of the future meeting of the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors are unpredictable.
Addressing national and foreign correspondents at the conclusion
of the cabinet meeting, he added that the future discussion of IAEA
Board of Governors on other articles of the nuclear Non-Proliferation
Treaty (NPT) will be declared later on.
In response to the question related to to what extent the future
discussions of IAEA Board of Governors will be political, he said
that at present all the issues associated with Iran are political.
"The IAEA annual assessment brings to light the violations and
shortcomings of dozens of countries," he added.
Reiterating that everything in Iran has now become political,
he said that Iran`s access to peaceful nuclear technology has also
been termed as a political issue and highly exaggerated.
Aghazadeh said that a report on Iran`s attempts to access
peaceful nuclear technology in the past twenty years has now been
prepared.
"Wide range of studies and research are underway in all
countries to develop nuclear technology," he added.
The official said that the upcoming session of IAEA Board of
Governors will be mainly political and will depend on the
fulfillment of the Europeans commitments and the US approach.
Concerning Iran`s attempt to stop politicizing Iran`s
peaceful nuclear activities, he noted that serious measures are
currently underway in this respect by President Mohammad Khatami,
Iran`s permanent representative to IAEA, Ali Akbar Salehi, and the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Terming the outcome of the recent visit of the Secretary of
the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hassan Rowhani to Vienna
and Moscow as positive, he said that the approach of Russian President
Vladimir Putin to the issue was quite favorable.
He added that other states also support Iran with respect to its
peaceful nuclear program.
Aghazadeh reiterated that IAEA comprehensive report on Iran`s
nuclear activities will not end with its presentation to UN Security
Council.
