Putin: Iran has right to engage in uranium enrichment
IRNA
Moscow, Nov 10, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iran has the right to engage in uranium enrichment, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday during his meeting with head of Iran`s Security Council Hassan Rowhani. The Russian president believes Iran `as a full-fledged member of the international community has complete right to develop its nuclear program in peaceful purposes`. Therefore, Putin said, he sees `no obstacles to cooperation with Iran in the nuclear area`. At the same time the Russian president said he noted in the dialogue with Iran `three key topics in the nuclear area`. These are Iran`s opening all its nuclear programs to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the signing of the additional protocol and the question of uranium enrichment. Rowhani answered that Iran would present to the IAEA on the same day the letter expressing the readiness to sign the additional protocol on nuclear cooperation with Russia. He said Iran had decided `to clear all the concerns and is striving to bring its further nuclear programs into the route of international resolutions and rules`. "Iran has no aim of having nuclear arms. Nuclear weapons are of no importance to our defense doctrine", Rowhani said. The Russian president said he welcomed Iran`s latest arrangements with colleagues from European countries who had recently visited Tehran. /AH/210 End
