Rowhani says his talks with ElBaradei "more positive" than earlier negotiations

IRNA

Vienna, Nov 8, IRNA -- The Secretary of Iran`s Supreme National
Security Council (SNSC) Hassan Rowhani said here Saturday that the
results of his talks with Director-General of the International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei on Iran-IAEA nuclear
cooperation were "more positive and more fruitful" than earlier talks
with him in Tehran.
Rowhani told reporters after his meeting with ElBaradei that in
previous sessions in Tehran, the Iranian officials and IAEA
authorities had discussed the transparency but in today`s sessions the
sides reviewed what they had done to date.
ElBaradei said Iran had ideally cooperated with the IAEA and
answered all questions raised on its nuclear programs.
He said much work should be done to deal with and study all the
documents presented by Iran to the IAEA.
He said the IAEA will receive a letter from Iran next week in
which all the positions adopted by it would be mentioned.
Rowhani said the letter would focus on one major point that is
Iran`s prestige and national interest.
He reiterated that uranium enrichment is a legitimate right of
the Islamic Republic within the framework of the NPT.
He said Iran has responded to all the questions by IAEA on its
nuclear program adding that Iran would remain committed to the
agreement inked during a visit of the three EU foreign ministers to
Tehran on suspension of uranium enrichment.
Rowhani stressed that Iran must, like all those countries which
inked NPT, receive peaceful nuclear technology.
On September 12, a resolution setting a deadline for Iran to
disclose information on its nuclear program was approved without
voting by IAEA Governing Council session in Vienna.
The resolution had been set forth by Canada, Australia and Japan
and was approved by the 35-member board of governors giving Iran by
the end of October to prove it is not seeking secretly to develop
nuclear weapons.
Later on, foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany in a
meeting with Iranian officials on October 21 issued a statement aiming
to settle the questions on Iran`s nuclear program and its peaceful
application of nuclear technology between Iran and the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Providing proper grounds for signing the Additional Protocol by
Iran and provisional suspension of its uranium enrichment process were
among the focal points of the agreement reflected in the final
document issued at the end of the four-party negotiations termed as
`Tehran Statement`.
