ElBaradei says IAEA report on Iran to be released within a few days
IRNA
Vienna, Nov 8, IRNA -- Head of the United Nation`s nuclear Watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Muhammad Elbaradei said here Saturday that the IAEA report on Iran would be released within a few days. ElBaradei said after a meeting with Iran`s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hassan Rowhani that the IAEA report would be distributed among all 35 members of the IAEA governing council for consideration. The report, the UN official said, includes comments and considerations on the new policies adopted by the Islamic Republic. He praised Iran for taking an invaluable step to suspend its uranium enrichment activities. He termed as "very positive" the result of his talks with the Iranian officials on the country`s nuclear programs. After being distributed among the IAEA Governing Council members, the report would be discussed in the 20 November session of the Governing Council to reach a final decision on it. Rowhani`s visit is his first one to Vienna. His aim is to hold talks with ElBaradei on Iran-IAEA nuclear cooperation. Iran earlier rejected speculations that Rowhani will be carrying a letter from Iranian leaders for the IAEA over Iran`s signing the additional protocol of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty [NPT] in his Vienna visit. Rowhani`s visit to Vienna came after foreign ministers of three leading European countries visited Iran for talks on Iran`s adherence to Additional Protocol. Foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany in a meeting with Iranian officials on October 21 issued a statement aiming to settle the questions on Iran`s nuclear program and its peaceful application of nuclear technology between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Providing proper grounds for signing the Additional Protocol by Iran and provisional suspension of its uranium enrichment process were among the focal points of the agreement reflected in the final document issued at the end of the four-party negotiations termed as `Tehran Statement`.
