Enemy annoyed over Iran`s 20-year strategic plan: Kashani

IRNA

Tehran, Nov 7, IRNA -- Senior cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani
said here on Friday that the enemies are annoyed at the recent plan of
"Iran`s Outlook for the Next 20 Years" that has been devised by the
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Khamenei.
Kashani, speaking at the second sermon of Tehran Friday prayers,
said the future governments and parliaments of the Islamic Republic
should devise their policies according to the principles that have
been set in the plan.
Ayatollah Khamenei on Wednesday notified the heads of the three
branches of the government of the plan which would define a macro
strategy for the country`s economic, social and cultural development
for the next 20 years.
The plan envisages Iran as a developed country with a leading
position in the economic, scientific and technological domains of the
Middle East region by March 2026.
Ayatollah Khamenei`s strategic plan also considers that Iran would
develop the ability to preserve its Islamic identity as well as the
values of the Islamic Revolution. It also forsees Iran`s development
of a constructive interaction in the area of international relations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Kashani recalled the issue of
Iran`s signing the additional protocol of the nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), stressing that the Islamic Republic
will never give up its rights to develop peaceful nuclear technology.
"The conditions that Iran has declared (for signing the protocol)
must be thoroughly observed, and there should be no breaches," he
said.
Kashani stressed that if the parties that have arrived at an
agreement with the Islamic Republic over the NPT protocol fail to live
up to their pledges, Tehran would not consider itself obliged to
implement the commitments it made in the agreement.
Iran announced on October 21 that it would sign the NPT protocol,
as urged by the IAEA, that allows snap inspections of its nuclear
sites.
The announcement followed consultations with foreign ministers of
France, Germany and Britain who had arrived in Tehran earlier in the
day on a lightening visit.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday evening strongly supported
Iran`s decision to sign the NPT protocol, stressing however that Iran
would fiercely stand against any attempt to challenge its peaceful
nuclear program.
