Bushehr nps to be equipped with most up to date safety means

Novovoronezh, Russia, Nov 4, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- The nuclear power station at Bushehr will be equipped with the most up to date safety means. Russian specialists participating in the construction of that power station in Iran `undoubtedly, take into account the trends of such work at nuclear power stations in Russia`, Boris Antonov, the deputy technical director of Rosenergoatom concern, told Tass. He said the most contemporary safety system has been created at the stages of designing, construction and installing equipment at the nuclear power plant in Bushehr. Antonov said federal laws drawn up in Russia in recent years rigidly regulate the operation of nuclear facilities and this applies to the power station in Iran. Joint inspections of safety systems with the Iranian side will take place before putting the power station into operation, which is scheduled for 2005. The Russian side will train over 100 specialists who will be checking the operation of safety systems and organizing medical, radiation and chemical protection of the station`s operators against the damaging factors of natural and technogenic origin, Antonov said. /AH/210 End
