Iran ready for all-out transparent cooperation with IAEA: Asefi
IRNA
Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA -- Iran is ready for an all-out transparent cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding its nuclear energy programs, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Sunday. Talking to foreign and domestic reporters, Asefi said the report presented to the IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei was quite comprehensive and complete. "We are ready to have all-out transparent cooperation with the IAEA, and if the agency demands further details, Tehran will provide (such information)," he added. Pointing to the trend of Iran`s signing the Additional Protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Asefi said, "We will first send a letter to the agency which will be discussed and approved during the IAEA`s meeting and then it will run its due course." "We have offered the report in the framework of our duties and responsibilities," said the spokesman, adding "Good talks were held regarding contaminated (Iranian Uranium) parts and we tried to clear up ambiguities." "We hope the issue would be settled and the agency finds answers to its questions," he further added. Asefi said that enrichment of Uranium in Iran was in a very primitive stage under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), adding that Iran suspends the uranium enrichment process voluntarily to prove its goodwill. He said however that peaceful use of nuclear technology is the right of the Iranian nation and Iran will never ignore such a natural right and no country can deprive Iran in this regard. SF/211 End
