Libya says nuclear deal a success for Iranian diplomacy

Rome, Oct 25, IRNA -- Libyan Foreign Minister Abd El-Rahman Shalkam said in Tripoli Saturday that cooperation between Tehran and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the deal on nuclear program signed with three European countries is a great success for Iranian diplomacy. Meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Libya Mohammad Mahnaj, he added that Iran acted prudently concerning its nuclear program and has removed ambiguities in this regard. He further congratulated Iran, saying "hopefully the deal would become a model for other countries to follow." He said the US and the Zionist regime were deprived of their illegitimate aims as a result of Iran`s recent agreement. The two men also reviewed bilateral ties and regional and international developments. Libya stressed here Friday the importance of expanding bilateral, regional and international cooperation with Iran. Libyan Secretary of the General People`s Committee for Justice and Public Security Mohamed Ali al-Masirati made the remarks at the end of the 10th meeting of Iran-Libya Joint Economic Commission. He said Iran and Libya still face challenges after many years since the victory of revolutions in both countries and called for joint efforts to promote bilateral, regional and international cooperation between Tehran and Tripoli. The 10th session of Iran-Libya Joint Economic Commission ended Friday night. During the four-day meeting, Iran and Libya also reached agreements to increase cooperation in the fields of commerce, industry, marine transportation, science and health. The 11th meeting of Iran-Libya Joint Economic Commission will be held in Tehran in 2004. NB/212 End
