Iran says to sign protocol on return of nuclear fuel to Russia
IRNA
Tehran, Oct 22, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Tehran and Moscow will soon sign a protocol to an agreement on Iran`s returning spent fuel from the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Iran`s representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Akbar Salehi, said. He led the Iranian delegation to talks with IAEA that have ended in Tehran. Salehi said in a statement on Wednesday that under the protocol, Russia would deliver nuclear fuel for the Bushehr plant soon. He said the construction of the nuclear power plant `is not only continuing, but has a tendency to speed up`. Asked whether visits of foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany to Tehran were coordinated, Salehi said that in his view they were. He also stated that views of the three ministers `are similar to ours`. As for when Iran could suspend operations to enrich uranium, Salehi said Tehran was to decide that on its own. French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said after his talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi that Iran`s authorities had agreed to sign an additional protocol to the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and suspension of uranium-enrichment work. /AH/210 End
