Iran`s doctrine not concentrated on nuclear weapons: Khatami

IRNA

Tehran, Oct 21, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami here on Tuesday
said the doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran is not concentrated
on equipping the country with nuclear weapons.
Addressing a seminar held on the occasion of the National Exports
Day, he underlined the need for the country to become powerful in
different areas of sciences, technology, and economy. "We believe that
no power can be gained through access to nuclear bombs and weapons
of mass destruction," he added.
Referring to 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war, Khatami said the Islamic
Republic never allows itself to attack other countries with chemical
bombs.
The Islamic Republic is not interested in gaining power for
violating other nations` rights, he said, reiterating that Iran wants
to be powerful in order not to be attacked by others.
On economic activities of the private sector, the president

adding that "formation of export companies" is the motto of this
year`s National Exports Day.

that the amount will reach dlrs three billion by the end of the
Third Development Plan.

exported by the end of the current year (March 20, 2004) and
regretted however that the amount of goods imported in the first six
months of the year stood at dlrs 13 billion.

for domestic and foreign investors.
