Khatami terms IAEA`s resolution as unfair
IRNA
Putrajaya, Oct 17, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami here on Friday termed the International Atomic Energy Agency`s resolution against Iran`s nuclear activities as unfair. Speaking in a press conference on the sidelines of the OIC Summit, President Khatami stressed that Iran has repeatedly announced that the resolution is unfair and unjust. The Islamic Republic has not yet adopted any decision to stop or decrease cooperation with the IAEA in spite of the technical and legal defects of the resolution. Referring to desirable talks recently held between Head of the IAEA Mohamed ElBaradei and Iranian officials, Khatami stressed on continuation of cooperation between the two sides. He further described as "very dangerous" development and proliferation of weapons of mass destructions and nuclear weapons, adding that the Islamic Republic has always stressed on clearing the region and the world from such weapons. The IAEA Board of Governors last month set October 31 as deadline for Iran to prove it is pursuing peaceful nuclear programs. The resolution that was submitted by Canada, Japan and Australia also calls on Tehran to clarify its nuclear program by the end of October and to suspend its uranium enrichment program. FM/211 End
