Iran keen on cooperation with IAEA, mutual understating
IRNA
Tehran, Oct 5, IRNA -- Iranian Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Akbar Salehi here on Sunday said Iran`s criteria for mutual cooperation with the agency focused on mutual understanding and speed. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said that during negotiations with the visiting IAEA officials there was no agreement on setting a deadline to declare the conclusion. Domestic and foreign mass media in recent days had quoted Salehi as saying that Iranian and the visiting IAEA officials have agreed to conclude the issue within a specific time. Iran has not accepted the deadline set by IAEA Board of Governors (October 31) for Iran to sign the additional protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), he said adding that during the talks the two sides agreed to follow up the case in a defined framework. The Islamic Republic of Iran will do its utmost to speed up trend of this mutual cooperation to reach a final conclusion on the subject, he said. Iranian officials call for continued cooperation with the IAEA, he said. Rejecting allegations made by some western media on absence of understanding between Iran and IAEA in recent negotiations, he said the talks held in a positive atmosphere and the two sides agreed to continue cooperation.
