Kharrazi: Tehran will continue transparent cooperation with IAEA

New York, Sept 26, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said here on Thursday that Iran will continue to have "positive and transparent" cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) but will not accept anything through force. Kharrazi told his German counterpart Joschka Fischer here on sidelines of the UN General Assembly`s ministerial debate on Thursday that the IAEA Governing Council`s recent resolution on Iran`s nuclear programs is politically motivated. He said the IAEA should be given a chance to issue its final judgment. Fischer highlighted strong importance of the role and status of Iran in the region and said his country attaches great significance to relations with Iran. Meanwhile, Kharrazi in separate meetings and talks with his Polish, Syrian and South African counterparts on sidelines of the General Assembly here on Thursday discussed Iran`s peaceful use of nuclear energy. Polish Foreign Minister Wiodzimierz Cimoszewicz told Kharrazi that his country wants to Iran to share information and experience with it for deployment and activity of its forces in Iraq. Moreover, Kharrazi and his Syrian counterpart Faruq al-Shara held a unanimous stance that the UN should play a decisive role in Iraq. The two ministers believed that full restoration of Palestinians` legitimate rights would prepare the ground for establishment of peace. Kharrazi criticized the US for its continued one-sided support for Israel and said that Israel, provided by the backings, acts against Palestinians freely. The Iranian minister and his South African counterpart Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma examined ways and means for mutual commercial and economic cooperation. 216/216 End
