Mirdamadi terms IAEA resolution against Iran as `unacceptable`
IRNA
Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA -- French Ambassador to Tehran Francois Nicouloud conferred here Tuesday with Head of Parliamentary Commission for National Security and Foreign Affairs Mohsen Mirdamadi on recent IAEA Board of Governors resolution against the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the meeting, Mirdamadi termed the recent decision taken by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Iran as unacceptable. According to the Cultural and Public Relations Department of the Majlis, Mirdamadi voiced satisfaction over the current level of relations between Iran and France and called for further expansion and deepening of bilateral ties mainly on parliamentary level. Lambasting the recent IAEA resolution on Iran`s nuclear energy, he said turning the issues of disputes in foreign policy into prestigious ones would only make the situation more complicated. The recent UN resolution has mentioned a number of cases which are beyond the NPT authorization and is not in conformity to the terms of the treaty, he said. None of the political wings in Iran accept such dealings, he declared. Referring to the policy of trust-building between Iran and Europe, he said the IAEA`s regular inspection along with close cooperation with Europe can help further boost and bolster ties in line with peaceful application of nuclear energy in Iran. On recent developments in Iraq, Mirdamadi lauded France`s position on the issue and said under supervision of the UN, the Iraqi government should be established without interference of the foreigners. The French ambassador, for his part, underlined the close views between the two countries on developments in Iraq and expressed regret over martyrdom of Ayatollah Hakim and said the UN should be considered as a base to monitor Iraq`s developments. On recent IAEA resolution on Iran, he said peaceful application of nuclear energy is Iran`s legitimate right. In conclusion, he underlined further expansion of parliamentary ties between the two countries. MM/AH/210 End
