Iranian minister calls IAEA resolution immature
IRNA
Tehran, Sept 13, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi has said the resolution that the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed in connection with Iran`s nuclear program was immature. Kharrazi said in a statement Saturday the IAEA should have completed investigation regarding the Iranian nuclear endeavors and should have drawn certain conclusions before passing any anti-Iranian documents. In the absence of such conclusions, all resolutions must be regarded as politically motivated acts of pressure on Tehran, he indicted. The natural consequence of this is that the Iranian government will now be considering the future prospects for cooperation with the IAEA, Kharrazi said. He underscored at the same time his country`s readiness to cooperate with IAEA experts in the future so as to clear out all controversial issues. It is only after the sides try to clear out the complexities that the agency`s governors should pass conclusive decisions on Iran, Kharrazi said. The IAEA Board of Governors passed a resolution demanding that Iran step up cooperation with the agency, make its nuclear program fully transparent, and sign a supplementary protocol to the nuclear nonproliferation treaty without delay. /AH/210 End
