Iran remains open to IAEA inspections
IRNA
Vienna, Sept 8, IRNA -- Iranian Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Akbar Salehi said on Monday that Iran remains open to IAEA inspections. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, Salehi said that political atmosphere tarnishes the expertise work. He said that Iran will resist any propaganda campaign against Iranian nuclear programs. "We are sitting on a very thin edge. It could tilt one way or the other very easily," he said. As a victory for Iran, the Bush administration last week dropped its draft resolution to be proposed to the Board to declare Iran in non-compliance of IAEA obligations. "There was no other choice but to back down, because that proposal didn`t have many countries to go along with it," Salehi said. Instead, the resolution being drafted likely will call on Iran to answer questions raised in the report and provide full disclosure of its program. 215/212 End
