Iran opposes WMD, rejects allegations against Iran's nuclear program, president
Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami said on Wednesday
that the Islamic Republic of Iran in line with the Islamic teachings
opposes proliferation of nuclear arms and has never had such a
program.
Speaking in a meeting with Supreme Leader of the Islamic
Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in which country's other top
political and military officials were also present, President Khatami
said, "In presence of the Supreme Leader and top political and
military officials of the country, I declare that the Islamic
Republic of Iran opposes weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and that
any allegation against Iranian nuclear program is unfounded and lie."
