- U-S-Iran-Terror VOA 28 Aug 2002 -- The Bush administration has reiterated a warning to Iran not to offer safe-haven to al-Qaida members. This follows a U-S newspaper report denied by Iran that two key figures in the terrorist network are being sheltered in eastern Iran along with a number of other members of the group.
- White House Warns Iran Against Harboring Al Qaeda Washington File 28 Aug 2002 -- The White House August 28 warned Iran against harboring terrorists, after the Washington Post reported that Tehran had given safe haven to two deputies of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network. "What we have stated most recently, I think it was Secretary (of Defense Donald) Rumsfeld, that there are some al Qaeda in Iran and, if there are, we expect every government not to harbor terrorists in their country and not to provide them with safe haven," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters. "And that's what we call on the Iranian government to do as well"

- U.S. Says Iran Should Not Offer Safe Haven for Terrorists Washington File 28 Aug 2002 -- "Department of State spokesman Richard Boucher said August 28 that Iran should not offer safe haven for terrorists. (...) Boucher made clear that the U.S. is willing to cooperate with Iran when it is in the national interest to do so, but he also emphasized that no nation, including Iran, should shelter terrorists."
