ISRAEL EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER IRANIAN MISSILE TEST
ISRAEL LINE THURSDAY, JULY 23, 1998
According to The New York Times, an American intelligence satellite
detected on Wednesday an Iranian test of a medium-range missile capable of
striking Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Russia, Israel Radio, KOL YISRAEL,
reported. American officials believe Iran purchased the missile from North
Korea.
HA'ARETZ reported that sources in Jerusalem expressed their concern over
the new missile's estimated capability of reaching Israel. Sources in the
Prime Minister's Office said that the test was expected, although not at
this early date.
The sources also said that they hope the Europeans will now realize that
the next missile developed by Iran will be capable of reaching Europe, and
that they will draw a conclusion regarding this matter.
