Transcript of Weekly Media Briefing by the Official Spokesperson (April 09, 2025)
India - Ministry of External Affairs
April 09, 2025
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Good afternoon, friends. Let's start our conversation. So the floor is open. We start from here.
Vineeta Pandey, Asian Age Deccan Chronicle: Jaiswal ji, my name is Vineeta. I work for the Asian Age Deccan Chronicle. The question today is about Mr. Rana. Has he been handed over to Indian Agency? When is he likely to come? Can you just share the details about that?
Sakshi: Sir yehi ka hi followup aage Bharat mei kab aane ki sambhavana hain, aur kahan par unko filhal rakha jayega? Delhi mei ya isko lekar koi jankari?
[Approximate Translation: Question in Hindi] Sir, following up about the same, when is he expected to arrive in India, and where will he be kept for now? In Delhi? or is there any information regarding this?
Somya Jaiswal, Republic TV: Sir, this is Somya Jaiswal from Republic TV. Again a follow-up on Tahawwur Rana. Which airbase can we expect him to be landing on exactly? And what is expected post that?
Ayushi Agarwal, ANI: Sir, this is Ayushi Agarwal from ANI. My question is related to the recent conversation between our External Affairs Minister and his American counterpart. The US readout said that the reciprocal tariffs were discussed. So can you share some details on that? And also during the talks, was Rana's extradition discussed at all?
Keshav Padmanabhan, The Print: Sir, this is Keshav Padmanabhan from The Print. My question actually is regarding Bangladesh. Recently there was a circular which cancelled the trans-shipment agreement, which allowed the transport of Bangladeshi goods. So, I just wanted to have an understanding on whether this agreement was firstly discussed between PM Modi and Chief Adviser last week, and also sort of the understanding behind the cancellation of this, if you can share. Thank you.
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Okay. So let's deal with these questions first.
We have three questions on Mr. Rana. On that, you are all aware that the US Supreme Court rejected his plea, as far as the extradition of Mr. Rana is concerned. At this point in time, I don't have an update, but we will provide you an update at the appropriate time.
So, Ayushi, your question regarding what was discussed between External Affairs Minister and US Secretary of State. He discussed several issues. We also had put out the discussion points that included conversation on West Asia, regional development, some international development. They also discussed the importance of early conclusion of Bilateral Trade Agreement. So that was more or less what comprised the discussion between the two leaders.
Keshav, on Bangladesh, on the trans-shipment, this was a facility that was extended to Bangladesh in 2020. The trans-shipment facility extended to Bangladesh had over a period of time resulted in significant congestion at our Airports and Ports. Logistical delays and higher costs were hindering our own exports and creating backlogs. The facility, therefore, has been withdrawn with effect from 8th April 2025. And let me clarify here, I saw some reports. These measures do not impact Bangladesh's exports to Nepal and Bhutan transiting through Indian territory. So, that was, Keshav, for you.
Mohammad Ghazali, NDTV: Ghazali from NDTV. Just wanted to understand about the extradition request from Bangladesh for Sheikh Hasina. And the Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser, they are putting out a Facebook post. So, what is the response? What is the status? And also, India has been raising the issue of the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, and that came up for discussion with the Prime Minister as well. So, are we satisfied with the response there? What is the status for all these 7-8 months since Sheikh Hasina was ousted from there?
Rishabh Madhavendra Pratap, Times Now: Good evening, Sir. Rishabh from Times Now. So, again on Bangladesh, I have a couple of questions. First, near the chicken neck at the 'Lalmonirhat', there is a Second World War era airstrip which is being redeveloped. The report suggests that with the help of Pakistani Air Force, J-17 aircrafts are to be operated from there. Is India aware of it and have we taken any step in this regard?
Again, when the Chief Adviser was in China, he spoke to the Chinese President about the Teesta water sharing, which is a bilateral agreement between India and Bangladesh. He wanted China to intervene. So, have we raked this up with Dhaka?
And third, after the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Press Secretary of Chief Adviser came up with a long post on Facebook where he spoke about things like Prime Minister telling him that India is aware of the "mistreatment", of Muhammad Yunus by the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Also, he says that on the issue of extradition, the response was not negative from India. So, if we can have more details on that.
Ileana, TASS News Agency: Good afternoon. Ileana from TASS News Agency. Recently, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia said that visit by Shri Narendra Modi to Moscow for Victory Day is being worked out. Can you confirm this information? And also, will Indian Military contingent participate in the parade on Red Square on Victory Day? And will Shri Rajnath Singh come to Moscow for Victory Day? Thank you very much.
Shivam Patel, Reuters News: Thank you, sir. This is Shivam Patel from Reuters News. A query on trade talks. So, we are discussing trade deal with the EU, and also in talks with US. We expect both, or we anticipate both to be completed this year. Is there a certain timeline, whether one ... sort of the talks with EU are expected to conclude earlier than the US?
Secondly, China has also asked India to stand with it in the response to US tariffs. How does India view China's comments on that?
Huma Siddiqui, StratNews Global: Sir, I am Huma Siddiqui from StratNews Global. I have two questions. One is Prime Minister met with the Nepalese PM during the BIMSTEC. Did they discuss how Nepal is including certain parts of Uttarakhand in its 8th standard school books?
And my second question is Nithyananda, that "fake guru"; he has created a scandal in Bolivia by trying to buy land from indigenous people. So, if you have anything on that.
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Okay. So, Ghazali, coming first to your question. See, on the question of extradition, I have stated our position on this issue earlier, and I have no further comment to offer to you.
On your question of the minorities, this particular issue came up for discussion. We have conveyed our concerns regarding treatment of minorities, the kind of violence that has happened against them. And we have also highlighted ... and we have been doing this in several of our conversations, including when we had the meeting in Bangkok, that these violence and atrocities against the minorities cannot be just wished away, or said that they are because of political reasons, or they are media accusations. So, we think, we hope that the Bangladesh government will take strong action against those who are responsible for these atrocities.
Rishabh, you have several questions. One, of course, regarding the chicken's neck. We closely follow, as you know, all developments which have an impact on our security and we take action as appropriate.
On Teesta, there are 54 rivers which are shared between India and Bangladesh. Now, to discuss all relevant issues, water issues, we have a mechanism, a bilateral mechanism, which is called Joint Rivers Commission. We are ready to discuss all issues, provided that they are mutually agreed upon and provided that the overall environment is conducive for the same.
You also had a question regarding Teesta matters. Issues, again, concerning all 54 rivers between India and Bangladesh, including Teesta, are a bilateral matter between the two countries. Established institutional mechanisms, including, as I said, the Joint Rivers Commission, supported by technical level discussions, deal with all relevant water-related issues, and are bilateral in nature.
On the extradition, I gave you what our position is.
Ileana, regarding ... our Prime Minister has received invitation for participation in the Victory Day celebrations. We will be announcing our participation in Victory Day celebration at the appropriate time. As far as participation of Indian contingent is concerned, that again we will let you know as and when we have an update, and something to report to you.
Shivam, on trade talks, on 3rd, we had a detailed press release issued by the Ministry of Commerce, where India's position was made clear. We are studying the implications of the tariffs that have been announced... reciprocal tariffs ... and discussions, as you know, are ongoing between India and US trade teams for an expeditious conclusion of a mutually beneficial multi-sectoral Bilateral Trade Agreement. India values its comprehensive global strategic partnership with the U.S., and is committed to working closely with it. So we hope, you know, the Joint Statement when the Prime Minister went to Washington, D.C., ... the Joint Statement adopted then said that we would like to conclude this particular Agreement by fall of this year. So we are hopeful. Both teams are in discussion and hopefully we can close it.
On the other EU FTA, yes, there was a very high commitment on both sides that was made amply clear when the EU president was here. We also hope that these negotiations will also move fast and will be concluded in a manner that is mutually beneficial ... is balanced and mutually beneficial to both sides.
Huma, on, see, these border issues, etc., we have a bilateral mechanism with Nepal to discuss these issues. Now when you take some unilateral action, that doesn't mean that the situation on ground will change or the reality will change. So that is how we look at these border issues that you pointed out.
As far as the issue of "fake guru" is concerned, he is a private person. He speaks for himself. I don't have an update. I will have to get back to you as to if there are other issues which are involved. So far nothing has come to us.
Suhasini Haidar, The Hindu: This is Suhasini Haidar from The Hindu. I had two questions about the trade deal that you just referred to. The first is really how India ... you said that India is hoping to negotiate this Bilateral Trade Agreement. And is therefore not at present, I will just leave that there ... is negotiating this bilateral trade agreement. But given that there are countries that have Free Trade Agreements with the U.S. that have still been slapped by high tariffs, does India expect that these tariffs are going to be withdrawn? Is India asking for the tariffs that have been put on Indian exports to the U.S. that are already costing billions of dollars? Is that something India is asking for them to be withdrawn? And my second question is, and I can read it out to you if you want, but certainly very objectionable comments coming from U.S. President Donald Trump speaking in very pejorative language about countries that were negotiating bilateral trade deals with the U.S. or who wanted to ingratiate themselves with the U.S. President. I wondered if you had a response to that kind of statement. Thank you.
Yeshi Seli, Business India: This is Yeshi Seli from Business India. In the recently concluded BIMSTEC Summit that PM Modi met the Junta General of Myanmar, did he talk about the progress in the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Project, and did he also talk or express any concern on the safety of the Sittwe Port? And secondly, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in London at present. There was a UK investors round table that she addressed yesterday, and she said that with the new government they are expecting the FTA to come out sooner than later. Any comments on that?
Rajesh Roy, The Associated Press: Hi Sir, I am Rajesh Roy from the Associated Press. I wanted to check for any updates or details or confirmations on U.S. Vice-President JD Vance's likely visit to India this month. Is it likely to be an Official, Private or a mix of both? Thank you.
Rezaul H Laskar, The Hindustan Times: Reza from the Hindustan Times. I just wanted to check about the Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's remarks in China. Virtually leveraging India's landlocked North Eastern states to get Chinese investments. He, in fact, talked about extending China's influence to that region. How do we look at that given that the PM has said that the Northeast is central to the BIMSTEC. Thank you.
Krishna Pokharel, Wall Street Journal: Sir, this is Krishna Pokharel from the Wall Street Journal. Has India formally requested the US to pause the reciprocal tariff that is becoming effective from today?
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Okay, let's look at these questions first. On the trade deal, what I have to share is what we have put out in our press release that discussions are going on between both teams and we are looking at expeditiously concluding this Bilateral Trade Agreement that will address all the issues that are outstanding in India-U.S. trade relations right now.
The other question regarding President Trump's remarks, etc. We are engaged bilaterally for having concluding a Bilateral Trade Agreement and we look forward to that. And as I told you that we have a comprehensive strategic partnership with the United States and we are committed to further strengthening it.
Yeshi, your question regarding the meeting with the Senior General of Myanmar. This happened on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. Post the meeting we had given a readout as to what transpired in the meeting. The leaders exchanged notes on India's relief assistance provided to Myanmar as part of Operation Brahma. The Senior General expressed his gratitude for the assistance being rendered by India. We also made ourselves clear on the importance of early restoration of democratic process through inclusive and credible elections in Myanmar. And we also put forth our views on advancing a Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-led transition towards a peaceful, stable, and democratic future.
Now having said that, development cooperation issues were discussed. We talked about the ongoing development projects in Myanmar, and also our readiness to do more on that account to help people there, and to foster our relations with the country.
On FTA, as I told you last time that the FTA talks with UK are in the process of being relaunched and both sides remain committed to taking it forward. If my memory serves me right, I think seven rounds have happened. This will be the eighth round and both sides are keen to conclude this, or take these negotiations forward so that we can have an early conclusion of the FTA talks.
But I would also refer ... if you have to take these questions to Ministry of Commerce which is actually leading these negotiations. So they will be in a better position to give you granular details that you are looking for.
Rajesh, on your question regarding the visit of the Vice President of the United States, as it happens with all visits on our side, we announce these visits at the appropriate time.
Reza, on Bangladesh, we had a meeting between our leaders in Bangkok. Post that meeting, we gave you a readout, a press release was issued where we made our points clear as to what is the approach of India. We want to have a positive and constructive relationship with Bangladesh. And we also therein listed out the issues that were discussed, and where we think that we must take things forward.
Krishna, your question was regarding ... [inaudible] ... coming back to what I said on the discussions, ongoing discussions on Bilateral Trade Agreement. We are having a discussion on Bilateral Trade Agreement. This is all-encompassing. We are discussing all trade issues that are required to be discussed.
Abhishek: Hi Sir, Abhishek this side. My question is President Trump had just tweeted, maybe he has put it on Truth that he is asking all the U.S. companies to come back to the USA with all the facilities and assurances and zero-tariff. And he had typically mentioned Apple to move back to U.S.. Apple has manufacturing bases in India also. So I mean, if so many US companies are given assurances to go back to USA, does that concern you?
And also, my second question is regarding one Indian citizen Amit Gupta who has been employee of a tech company in Qatar, has been detained for almost three months now. Could you please share what are the charges, and has he been able to access the consular relief from his side?
Sridhar Kumaraswami, Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle: Sir, Sridhar here from the Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle. I have two questions. First is this withdrawal of trans-shipment facilities to Bangladesh. Should it be seen as a fallout of what Mr. Yunus said in China regarding the landlocked status of our seven northeastern states? I mean one would have imagined that after the meeting between the two leaders, the ties would actually improve. But this seems to be going in the opposite direction.
And the second question I have is regarding Tahawwur Rana. In the past, India has given a commitment not to sentence convicts to death ... those who have been extradited, like Abu Salem, we gave an undertaking to Portugal. Is there something similar in this case or is there absolutely no legal restriction on how we deal with this man? Thank you.
Rishabh: Thank you for the second chance sir. I just wanted to have an update on Op Brahma. How much have we sent as assistance? How many soldiers are there from Indian Army or Indian military services? And what else are we trying to do in Myanmar to assist them in this hour of need, where we have lost more than 4,000 people in earthquake?
Sudhi Ranjan Sen, Bloomberg: Thank you sir. Sudhi Ranjan from Bloomberg. Sir, associated question on Tahawwur Rana. Sir India has also sought the extradition of David Coleman Headley, who was supposed to be a double agent for DEA. Has India given up that request, because nothing has been heard on it? Can you give us an update as to what is happening in that?
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Okay, first coming to Abhishek's question. Now as I told you. India and United States are very strong partners when it comes to trade relations, economic relations, investment relations, commercial relations and we hope that these relations will continue to foster and deepen. As far as trade issues are concerned, as I told you, we are in negotiation on a Bilateral Trade Agreement, and hopefully we will be able to address these issues and conclude expeditiously this particular agreement.
On the question of Amit Gupta, he has been detained in Qatar. We did request for consular assistance and our Embassy Officials met him on 28th March to inquire about his well-being. We are in touch with his family members. We are also in touch with his lawyers. He has been detained in a particular case and investigation in that particular case is currently ongoing. We also understand that there are some other Indian nationals who have also been detained in the same case or related case, and we are also in touch with them as also their family members, and they get regularly to call their families here, and they are fine. But more than that I would not be able to tell you at this point in time, because the investigations are on. But to let you know that our embassy is in regular touch with them, and is providing all possible assistance to those detained ... the Indians who have been detained including Mr. Amit Gupta.
Sridhar, on withdrawal, I told you exactly what is the reason why it has been withdrawn. The withdrawal has happened because it has led to lot of backlogs on our side. There are lot of delays, so because of those reasons as I told you, this particular facility has been withdrawn. It was given in the first place in 2020.
The other question you had about Tahawwur Rana. On Tahawwur Rana I have said what I had to say that insofar as extradition is concerned, we will provide you an update at the appropriate time. So that is where it is. You would have been following this particular issue and Supreme Court recently rejected his plea. That has paved the way for his extradition to India.
Rishabh, on Operation Brahma, as you are aware and all our friends are aware, we also had a Special Briefing on Operation Brahma. We had a devastating earthquake in Myanmar on 28th. On 29th, the first consignment as part of Operation Brahma left for Myanmar, for Yangon or Nay Pyi Daw. I do not recollect which one of the cities. But so far we have been able to extend around 650 metric tons of humanitarian assistance. These have been sent through seven Indian Air Force aircrafts and five Indian Navy ships.
We also sent, as you know, an 80-member NDRF team to undertake search and rescue operation. They have conducted their mission and finally they have returned home. In addition, the Indian Army has set up a field hospital in Mandalay.
They have 118 members, as in the doctors and paramedics who are supporting. So far they have treated more than 1,300 patients. And each day they receive around 250 patients who come for treatment to the hospital.
We also had the visit of the Senior General who came to the hospital to inquire the well-being of the patients there. And when the Prime Minister and Senior General met in Myanmar, the Senior General expressed his gratitude to India for the assistance that was rendered. We are also in touch with the Myanmar authorities as to what more is required. And we stand ready to support Myanmar with whatever assistance that will be requested from their side.
Sudhi, on Tahawwur Rana, I have said what I had to say. On David Coleman-Headley, I don't have an update. But as you know, it is an issue that has been ongoing. It is part of ongoing discussion. But as to where exactly it is, the extradition request, I will have to get back to you on that.
Manish Jha, Tv9 Bharatbarsh: Sir, Manish Jha hoon Tv9 Bharatbarsh se. Ek chota sa clarification chahiye. Jab aap Pradhan Mantri Modi ke Russia ki sambhavit yatra ko lekar jo aapne kahan, us se kya hum ye mane ki aapne unke daure ko kharij nahi kiya hain, appropriate time par aap announce karenge?
[Approximate Translation: Question in Hindi] Sir, I am Manish Jha from TV9 Bharatvarsh. I just need a small clarification — regarding what you said about Prime Minister Modi's possible visit to Russia, should we understand that you have not ruled out his visit, and that you will announce it at an appropriate time?
Manash Pratim Bhuyan, PTI: This is Manas from PTI. I am just pressing again on the trade issue a little more. Are we in touch with the U.S. to suspend the immediate impact of the reciprocal tariff? Because exporters are very concerned, and our exports are going down now. To provide some relief to the exporters, are we in touch with the U.S. to minimize the impact?
Second question is, in the wake of the global trade war, are we also receiving more requests from various countries to have trade deals or FTAs? Are we also looking at forcing many other FTAs apart from whatever negotiations we are having with the U.K. and U.S.?
Kallol Bhattacherjee, The Hindu: Kallol from the Hindu. My question is regarding the transshipment facility being suspended for Bangladesh. The point is, worldwide Indian trade and commerce activities are facing pressure, especially from the leading player, the United States. So in this set of circumstances, is it not common sensical for India to actually intensify regional trade with partners ... like overland trade partners, like Bangladesh and Nepal, and instead of building these new barriers like blocking the transshipment facilities for Bangladesh trucks?
Samira Hussain, BBC: Samira from the BBC. I want to also ask about trade. After the visit in Washington a couple of months ago, the Indian delegation walked away feeling pretty good about how those talks went, that perhaps they may be able to stave off some of these tariffs. That obviously didn't work out. But, India is still relying on this kind of soft negotiation with this Administration. At some point, is India going to try and get tougher, given that this Administration is not looking like it's going to honour any kind of other Free Trade Agreements that are already in existence?
Kadambini Sharma, Independent Journalist: Kadambini Sharma, Independent Journalist. Sir, jahan par Russia mei victory day parade mein naute ki baat ho rahi hain, aur PM ya phir raksha mantrike jane ki reports aa rahi hain, chahe abhi nahi hain. Toh iske pahle jo bhi bhartiya wahan par wahan ki sena mei fase hue the Ukraine war ko lekar, kya sabhi ki jo wapas aana chahte hain, kya unki wapsi ho rahi hain?
Aur dursa sawal ye hain ki baki jo free trade agreements ki baat chal rahi hain ... chahe woh UK se ho ya phir EU se ho, toh kya usmei ab jyada tezi lane ke koi charcha hain?
[Approximate Translation: Question in Hindi] Sir, at a time when there is talk of an invitation for the Victory Day parade in Russia, and there are reports about either the Prime Minister or the Defence Minister possibly attending — even though it is not confirmed yet; I wanted to ask whether all those Indians who were stuck there in the Russian army due to the Ukraine war and wish to return, are their returns being facilitated?
And my second question is regarding the ongoing discussions on Free Trade Agreements, whether with the UK or the EU. Is there any discussion on accelerating those talks further?
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: Okay. Manish, pehle aapka jo sawal. Dekhiye bhartiya pradhan mantri ko Russia ki taraf se nauta aaya hain unke yahan jo vishesh karyakram hain 9 May ko us mei bhag lene ka. Jaisa maine ki kaha ki, kis prakar ka hamara wahan par participation hoga uske baare mei aapko hum avgat karaenge. Toh isse jyada mere pass mei abhi kehne ke liye kuch nahi hain.
[Approximate Translation: Answer in Hindi] Manish, regarding your first question — look, the Indian Prime Minister has received an invitation from Russia to participate in their special event on May 9. As I mentioned, we will inform you in appropriate time about the nature of our participation there. So, beyond this, I don't have anything further to say at the moment.
Manash, now your questions are very technical in nature. You know, I told you that discussions are going on. What you are asking is something that pertains to the domain of the negotiators, etc. Now, as far as exporters, yes, we are in talk with exporters and other stakeholders just to understand what sort of implication these tariffs are going to have, and what is the best way forward for it ... just to understand the kind of implications. Those conversations are happening.
Now, Kallol, your questions. You also, Manash, asked about FTAs. We are in Bilateral Trade Agreement ... right now, negotiations are going on with the United States. We also have in principle approval to relaunch the negotiations with UK and hopefully the next round of negotiations will happen soon. Similarly, there is a very high commitment on the side of ... even though it has taken several years... on both India and the EU to conclude an FTA agreement by the end of this year. So, it looks good. We are positive about these Free Trade Agreements.
Kallol, on trans-shipment. So, one thing ... let me, I would again repeat. This particular transshipment facility that has withdrawn, it has no impact on Nepal and Bhutan trade as far as Bangladesh exports are concerned. Just to answer your question on regional trade. There is a particular reason why it has been brought in because we are facing congestion on our side, and we have to create more space for our own exports.
Samira, again, trade talks, I have nothing more to add than what I just said that we are in discussion. Hopefully, once these discussions fructify, etc., at some point in time we will have more issues to inform you ... update you on.
Russia ke invitation ke bare mei maine bataya aapko Kadambini. Aur jahan tak sawal hain ki wahan par kitne log ... jo log wahan par Russia ki sena mei fase hue the usmei se kitne log wapas aaye hain. Iske baare mei kuch samay maine pahle jo bataya tha, uske baad mere pass koi aur update nahi hain usko aur jodne ke liye. Lekin kya sthithi hain ... kuch hi log rahe gaye the wahan par jinko nikalna tha aur prakriya chal rahi thi. Toh shayad woh bhi wapis aa gaye honge, mere pass iska pukta gyan nahi hain. Lekin mei aapko avgat karaunga.
[Approximate Translation: Answer in Hindi] Kadambini, I have already told you about Russia's invitation. And as far as your question regarding how many people — those who were stuck there in the Russian army — have returned, I had shared details about this some time ago. Since then, I don't have any further updates to add. But as per the situation, there were only a few people left there who had to be evacuated, and the process was underway — so perhaps they might have returned as well. I don't have confirmed information about this right now, but I will keep you informed.
Jackie: Sorry, I just wanted to go back to Bangladesh. We filmed some of the rescuing that your teams did there. You said that two weeks later you are still getting people into the field hospitals. Can I check what kind of injuries you are getting at the field hospitals? Sorry, not Bangladesh, Myanmar. Wrong country. What kind of injuries are you getting at the field hospitals where you are still working?
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: So, a lot of people, including children, they come with all sorts of injuries, cuts. Several of them have also been operated on. All sorts of injuries. So a range of injuries. And some 250 people come there on a daily basis. So far, as I said, 1,300 people. Possibly, if tomorrow you ask me, by the end of this evening, 1,500 or 1,600 people would have visited. It is being appreciated. An earthquake of this magnitude happens, you can imagine the kind of impact it has on people's well-being and the kind of injuries it brings in its wake. So, we are dealing with that, and our assistance is being very well appreciated by the people.
Shivam Patel, Reuters News: My question is on China.
Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson: See, as far as India-China issues are concerned, we have recently had the meeting of WMCC in Beijing. We also had foreign ministry level consultation at the Joint Secretary level. And post that, we put out a Press Release, giving you a sense of how the discussions are going. We have talked about people-to-people ties. We have talked about resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. We have talked about direct flights. We have also talked about celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations. And we have also discussed those issues. So, that is where it is. I would refer you to please have a look at our press release.
Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.
