Indian frigate docks at Bandar Abbas

Tehran (ISNA) – Indian Navy Talwar-class frigate INS Tarkash docked at Iranian Navy's first region in the port city of Bandar Abbas on the Persian Gulf.

Iranian Navy commanders based in Bandar Abbas welcomed the Indian frigate INS Tarkash.

The purpose of the Indian frigate's visit is to strengthen and promote the bilateral ties between Iran and India as well as develop the culture of peace and friendship.

The commander and a number of Tarkash frigate's crew met with Rear Admiral Mojtaba Mohammadi, the commander of Iranian Navy's first region.

During the meeting, the commander of the Indian frigate expressed his happiness for his presence in Iran particularly in the city of Bandar Abbas, wishing more interaction between the naval forces of the two countries.

"We hope to conduct a joint naval exercise with Iranian forces," he said.

"We are pleased to welcome the Indian frigate Tarkash, as our frigates are your guests in the ports of Mumbai and Kochin. The interactions of Iranian and Indian naval forces remain as in the past years and we hope that in the future it will remain strong," Rear Admiral Mohammadi said.

"We have a lot of cultural and linguistic connections with India, and regarding to the IONS (Indian Ocean Naval Symposium), we also hope to welcome Indian Navy fleets to Bandar Abbas," he continued.
