India's military forces successfully tests BrahMos missile

8 July 2014, 20:47 -- India's military forces have successfully tested the updated version of a supersonic cruise missile BrahMos, developed jointly with Russia. 'During the test, an updated steering system, uniting several navigation satellites, was used, along with new software, developed by Indian scientists and enterprises, which resulted in high hit precision of surface targets,' BrahMos Aerospace said in the statement.

The missile was test launched from the Chandipur ground in Odisha state. It covered the distance of 290 kilometers (180 miles) and hit a surface target while nose-diving with high precision. More missile tests have been scheduled for the end of 2014.
