Indian security personnel killed in Maoists attack

New Delhi, Dec. 24, IRNA -- One Indian security personnel killed while another injured on Friday in two separate Maoists attacks.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was killed on Friday when an IED exploded on a culvert during anti-Maoist patrolling near Saranda forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, pti reported, quoting a senior police officer as saying in Ranchi.

'A CRPF jawan was killed when the IED planted by Maoists near a culvert exploded,' Inspector General of Police (Operation) R K Malik said.

Meanwhile, in another incident a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel suffered bullet injuries when the Maoists opened fire on a bus in which the security personnel were travelling at Barasingha village in Giridih district of Jharkhand state, the local police said.

The security personnel retaliated the maoist firing, the sources said.

The security personnel were returning from the fifth and last phase of panchayat poll duty when the Maoists opened firing, they added.
