India's Foreign Minister leaves for Kazakhstan

New Delhi, May 11, IRNA – India’s Foreign Minister S M Krishna will be leaving for Kazakhstan Tuesday evening on a bilateral visit.

He would be accompanied by a sizeable business delegation beside Ms. Latha Reddy, Secretary (East) and a few other members, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Mr. Vishnu Prakash told media in New Delhi.

The draft Civil Nuclear Agreement with Kazakhstan which envisages cooperation in the area of nuclear fuel, mining and construction of nuclear power plants and collaboration in the hydro carbon sector will come up for discussion during the meeting Krishna will have with Kazakh leader during his visit to that country.

The Foreign Minister will have delegation level talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kanat Saudabayev and will call on the Prime Minister and President of Kazakhstan and address the joint business forum of the two countries.

Vishnu Prakash said that Kazakhstan is one of our most important partners in the Central Asia. We are both multi-ethnic and multicultural societies.

India and Kazakhstan also have a strategic partnership which was unveiled during the visit of President of Kazakhstan Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev when he had come to India in January 2009. Both countries have an ambitious and forward looking agenda of cooperation, he added.
