Three Indian ships visit Bandar Abbas

Tehran, April 4, IRNA - Three Indian ships are visiting the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas from April 4-7 as part of a good will visit, Indian Embassy in Tehran announced here on Saturday.

The three ships of the 1st Training Squadron of the Indian Navy, namely INS Tir, INS Krishna and ICGS Veera are visiting Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormuzgan province, the Indian Embassy said in its press release.

The ships are Cadet Training Ships and provide Afloat Training to junior officers of the Indian Navy, and also to officers from friendly foreign countries, the press release added.

Good will visits by IN ships help in building ‘Bridges of Friendship’, it said, adding that during this visit Cadet officers of the Indian Navy would interact with their counterparts from the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy and participate in sports fixtures and other adventure activities.

The Indian Embassy also added that the senior officer of the visiting ships is Captain Rajiv Mehta. The Flotilla has a crew composition of 145 officers and 510 sailors, it said.

On departure from Bandar Abbas the ships would return to their home port in India.
