New Delhi will go ahead with talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) - for working out the text of the India specific safeguards agreement, following the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

The decision was taken at the sixth meeting of the UPA-Left panel in New Delhi Friday evening, with the Left agreeing to let the talks proceed on the deal.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said the outcome of the talks with the IAEA will be presented to the committee - for its consideration - before it finalizes its findings.

He said the committee discussed the implications of the Hyde Act on the 123 agreement, on India's foreign policy and security matters.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja said the decision was taken unanimously.

All members of the panel except the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad participated in the two hour long meeting.

The committee was constituted following differences of opinion between the ruling UPA and the Left parties on the deal.

The Lok Sabha will discuss the matter on the 27th of this month while the Rajya Sabha will take it up the next day.
