Post-Operation Parakaram of the Indian Navy has massed up almost its entire fighting flotilla in the biggest-ever sea maneuver it is undertaking in the entire expanse of the Arabian Sea throughout this month.

The flotilla of 50 warships drawn from both its Eastern and Western fleets comprising the carrier INS Viraat, stealth Talwar class frigates, Rajput class missile destroyers and indigenous Delhi and Brahmaputra and Ganga class warships will take part in the maneuvers which could involve live firings, a naval spokesman said here.

The wargames christened `Operation Tropex' (Theater Readiness Operational Exercise) will also involve specialized landing army units, IAF fighters as well as coast guard vessels and force multipliers like the unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters.

"The Navy will validate amphibious landings and exercise tactics aimed at influencing battles on land from force deployment at sea," the spokesman said.

"As part of the exercise, troop landings from seaward are also likely to be structured," he said.

The spokesman said that as a precursor, forces from both Eastern and Western fleets were presently engaged in drills and maneuvers in a joint exercise.
