Taking their confidence-building process forward, India and Pakistan on Tuesday held talks here to finalize the modalities for launching cross-LoC truck service on the Srinagar- Muzaffarabad road and operationalization of two meeting points along the Line of Control.

The two-day discussions on May 2 and 3 will also focus on commencement of a bus service between Poonch and Rawalakot and the opening of two meeting points on the Line of Control (LOC).

The Indian delegation at the talks is led by Dilip Sinha, joint secretary in the External Affairs Ministry, while the seven-member Pakistani side is headed by Syed Ibne Abbas, director general (South Asia Division) at the Foreign Ministry.

"The talks will cover the arrangements for the operationalization of the truck service for trade on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route, the commencement of a bus service between Poonch and Rawalakot and the opening of the two meeting points on the LOC."
The launch of the truck service along with the start of bus service between Poonch and Rawalakote and operationalization of meeting points at two designated points along the LoC were agreed in principle in earlier talks and both sides are expected to finalize modalities at tomorrow's parleys.

An effort would be made to implement the proposals at the earliest possible opportunity.
