The government maintained that India's position in the coming International Atomic Energy Agency meeting in Vienna on the Iran nuclear issue would be in accordance with the country's national interest.

"I will not go into a hypothetical situation. Let us see whether there is going to be a vote or not," Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran told reporters here, the English daily `Hindu' reported today.

Even if there was voting, India's "stance will be determined by what are the contents of the resolution," he said.

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already made that clear during his press conference in Dhaka.

Saran said India's stance would be based on its judgment of the national interest.
