India-Russia-Exercise
India and Russia will hold their first-ever land exercises involving special forces in Rajasthan from October 15.

A batch of 150 Russian special forces have arrived in Agra for the anti-insurgency exercise.

This is the first time that the two sides will hold
joint-exercises.

The focus of the three-day exercises, to be conducted near Mahajan firing range in Rajasthan, will be on surgical anti-insurgency operations in urban environment, Defence Ministry sources said.

The exercise will involve the use of highly-specialized close combat weapons, including sniper rifles, anti-material rifles and some new anti-insurgency equipment, developed by the Russians.

The exercise, involving paratroopers from both sides, will practice anti-insurgency exercises like hijack of aircraft, seizure of important buildings and others.

The Russians will be conducting familiarization exercises with Indian forces to work out standardized operating procedures.

Land exercises between the two countries will be followed up by the joint naval war games to be held in Vishakhapatnam towards end of this month.
