India proposes four more steps toward peace with Pakistan

New Delhi, Jan 1, IRNA -- On the eve of SAARC summit, India on Wednesday proposed to Pakistan to hold technical level talks this month on bus links between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad under Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. An Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) statement said India has proposed a further increase in the staff strength of the high commissions to 75 from present 55. In continuation of the step-by-step process for normalization of links and promotion of people to people contacts, the other Indian proposals conveyed to Pakistani government, were holding of technical level talks in the week of January 12, 2004 for establishment of bus link through Munabao and Khokrapar in Western Indian State of Rajasthan. The talks for establishment of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad link could be held in the week beginning January 19, 2004. India has also proposed removal of restrictions on the movement of high commission personnel, it said. 1260/KK/213 End
