India test fires Brahmos missile from warship

New Delhi, Nov 24, IRNA -- An Indian naval warship carried out the first development firing of the Indo-Russian anti-ship missile, Brahmos, on a target Sunday in the Bay of Bengal. The test-firing was successful and the missile, after flying in its planned trajectory, hit the intended target. Brahmos has a target range of 290-km with capability to carry 200 to 300 kgs payload of conventional warhead mass. It can be fired from multiple platforms which included ship, land, submarine and air, the sources said. The missile is marginally over eight meters in length and 670 mm in diameter. /212 End
