India`s Nuclear Command Authority reviews readiness of forces

New Delhi, Sept 1, IRNA -- The Political Council of India`s Nuclear Command Authority (NCA) on Monday met for the first time under the Chairmanship of Indian Premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee and is understood to have reviewed the readiness of the strategic forces, local media reported on Monday. Besides Vajpayee, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Defense Minister George Fernandes, Finance Minister Jaswant Singh and National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra, informed sources said. The Authority`s Political Council was set up on January four this year to lay out political principles and administrative arrangements to manage the country`s nuclear arsenal, which is under civilian control. /211 End
