Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna today in Tokyo to discuss the situation in Gaza amid Israeli military operations against Hamas. They reiterated U.S. support for Israel's right to defend itself, in accordance with international humanitarian law, while emphasizing the need to protect civilian lives. The Secretary thanked France for its leadership in denouncing Hamas' appalling attacks on Israel and for providing humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people.
